Time Log and Journal | 02.07.12

Time Log

I haven’t been keeping a log of the hours anymore, because I’ve put in well over 140 hours into this project.

I have free time to get a lot more content up on the website, so I should do it this week. I will.

Journal

I haven’t updated for a long time. I should have been better at writing journals about all the hours I’ve put in and what I’ve been working on. But I’ve been sick the past three months, so I couldn’t.

I still have to complete my senior project, but I’m just now feeling well enough to work on what’s left (portfolio, presentation).

Finally, my website developer got back to me today and said the reason all the new content hasn’t been posted yet is because he’s switching the site over to a new provider (which I had asked if we could do earlier). This is really good. I will be able to post articles myself and hopefully he can continue managing the rest of the content in a timely manner.

I had just about given up on it, so I’m really thankful things are progressing.

Also I have had an awesome friend of mine, Peter, who supports, encourages, inspires, and helps me a lot. I am just sooo thankful for him. God has really used him a lot in my life, and he’s been the biggest help to me with this.

I am still praying about who to interview for the next feature article. I’d really like to add a section for young adults to write articles for the magazine, I intended that from the beginning but never thought I’d have the time to accomplish it or add it in. I was trying to be careful of overdoing it, which I’m a bit prone to when I get all ambitious. :)

This all said, I had over a thousand people look at the magazine’s Facebook page one week, last I checked, which is pretty awesome.

That’s about it for now. Just wanted to update, since it’s been forever and I was thinking I should.

Website Promotion

One of my friends (who is awesome and has been an incredible encouragement and help!) inspired me to spread the word more about Inside Out.

I looked up some articles on it. Here are the links:

What you are going through might be “spiritual warfare, pure and simple. Something great and amazing must be standing on the other side of these dark times, otherwise, the enemy wouldn’t work so hard to discourage you.”

Update

I haven’t been keeping up on here with my time log and journals, but I have been keeping track offline. It’s been hard to get on the computer. I’ll explain soon.

Creativity Submission #2

“Battle Cry”

Rachelle Orozco | 28 | US | Poetry

It’s a battle

Can you hear the warfare cry?

The desperate souls are calling

So for this city I will fight

Hands outstretched

Hear the drums of war

The pulsating beat of Abba Father

The cause my heart is living for

A city dying within

The citing living without

I shine to let His love burst forth

Tearing down strongholds with a holy shout

Desolation soon to be defeated

His army shall rise

We were born for this warfare

The victory is burned in our eyes

And so we are fully committed

Unable and unwilling to turn away

Our face set like a flint

We stand firm, as the pure foundation is laid

His righteousness is revealed

And at His goodness repentance comes

In our weakness He is strengthening

His Spirit overtakes the enemy’s flood

United, together

Tied with cords of love

We step forth in boldness

Crushing fear for the glory of One

High praises of our Mighty God

Echo from our mouths

Lifting up the Holy Redeemer

At His name every knee shall bow

I am the Editor of this online magazine and I’m so excited for the first issue that is coming out soon! This is a dream come true and God has been so faithful to help me through every obstacle that I’ve encountered along the way. My whole prayer and heart’s desire is that young adults would be inspired and encouraged in their faith while reading the stories, testimonies, or seeing how people our age are using the talents God has given them for His glory. I hope God uses this magazine for His glory and to bless my brothers and sisters in Christ. I believe He will. :)

Entire Website Design Sketches (Page by Page)

These are my sketches of each page of the website. Disclaimer: these sketches are not completely exact and I’m willing to be flexible. I messed up on a few (the home page navigation bar and header is all wrong, but oh well, I did these all in pen). But now I have my design sketched out and ideas visually displayed.

The header and navigation bar will be the same on each page. Sketched-style social media icons in the top right corner (Subscribe, Facebook, Twitter). Inside Out icon on the far left, green fabric background, full horizontal navigation bar below the header (Home, About, Features, Testimonies, Creativity, Submissions, Contact).

1. Home Page

Top left: Preview slideshow box with image, read more button, header title, and body text.

Top Right: small post-it graphic with tape, body text (“Accepting submissions!…”)

Bottom: Possibly a letter from the Editor, or a link to it. Could be left out and just include a preview in the slideshow box.

2. About Page

Top Middle: “About” Statement:

“Inside Out is an online, interactive magazine featuring the stories, testimonies, and creativity of young adults across the globe testifying to what God has done inside them and how it’s changed the way they live out their lives, for the glory of God and encouragement of believers”

Medium box, bottom left: anything, maybe Vision Statement about the future or a Letter from the Editor.

Small box, bottom right: Social Media Icon” “Like us on Facebook?”

3. Features Page

Middle Left: 3/4 page column-width paper with title header, body text, polaroid picture graphics.

Far left, small box: Social Media Icons for sharing.

Far left, small box, below: About the author? Small photograph, medium title header, text. Optional.

Bottom: Response box. Title Header (“What About You?”), Bullets and body text.

Bottom, 2: Comments tab overlapping recent comment displays. Image icon, body text, reply button on bottom right corner of box.

Bottom, 3: Submit a comment box. Empty text box, information lines, submit button on bottom right corner of box.

4. Testimonies Page

Title Headers for names of submitters, text box bubble box graphic, body text.
